I am widowed--5 years now.  My husband, Jerry Walker, was from Chattanooga.  I met him at UTK after he returned from Vietnam.  He was a helicopter gunner platoon leader in Vietnam. Gay COX Bond.   We came to Monterey over 20 years ago for my husband (I really am married to James Bond) to attend the Defense Language Institute (and he was a spy!!) taking German.  I majored in French & English but he signed me up to take the course with him; the hardest thing I ever did.  We were 40 years old; our oldest (4 sons) a freshman in college and many of our fellow students that same age!  It is known as "total immersion" and was a very challenging 9 months.  James continued with Russian, a 14 month course so I went to work for a publishing company.  After a couple of weeks, they sent me to Boston to their school and I have been an editor since altho retired now.  I was in acquisitions; college textbooks; Counseling Psych. & Intro Psych.  A great experience; insane hours; lots of fun; many wonderful friends thru that work.  I miss it but still do some freelance for "old" authors.  We moved 45 miles north (between Monterey and San Jose) after retiring. God had a field day in CA!
